— How to get indicted for the shooting death of a Tennessee woman who tried to get a sunrise massage at sunrise?
If you answered by saying, “Well, it’s not that easy,” then you might want to take a look at this article from CBS Nashville, which lays out how the case is laid out in the official state court indictment.
The charges against the woman are two counts of second-degree murder and one count of felony firearm offenses, CBS News reported.
The indictment lists the victim as 22-year-old Michelle Brown, who was shot multiple times in the neck on a Tennessee beach, authorities said.
Brown was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and died at a hospital on Wednesday.
Her family is seeking damages from the state.
The indictment lists a “lone gunman” as the shooter.
A manhunt is underway for him.
Police say the shooting happened on July 6, and Brown and another woman were sitting in the shade of a beach towel and were enjoying the sun when the gunman approached them.
The alleged gunman allegedly opened fire on the two women, striking Brown in the head.
Brown’s mother, Sherri, told the Nashville Tennessean that she was “shocked” to learn of the charges against her daughter, but did not want to discuss specifics.
“My heart goes out to them,” she said.
“I know they’re trying to make this a quick case and get her back and get closure for their son.
But they have no idea that they killed her.”
The mother, who is in her 60s, said she does not want her daughter to be forgotten.
“I just want people to know the love and support they’ve given to her family and to those that care for her,” she told the newspaper.
Brown has not been charged with any crime in the case, and her family is still working to find her killer, said Lt.
Dave Crain of the Murfreesboro Police Department.
Police believe the alleged shooter is connected to at least two other shootings in the area over the past few weeks, including one on July 8, when a man walked into a restaurant and shot three people, according to the Associated Press.
The AP reported that the suspect was also accused of being involved in a shooting that killed another man and injured another man in August.
“It’s still very much a work in progress,” Crain told the Associated AP.
“We have the suspect in custody, but we don’t have the details yet.”
